About

At the edge of the sleepy little hamlet of Llantrithyd, near Bonvilston, lies St Illtyd’s church.

Built in the 12th century and heavily restored in 1897 by the renowned architect John Prichard this is in many ways a quintessential medieval Glamorgan country church.

It is home to some fine 17th and 19th-century stained-glass windows and a 14th-century rood screen.

The highlight is an outstanding Renaissance style monument to the Bassett family, wealthy local landowners and patrons of the church, St Illtyd’s is a treasure trove of local history and architectural styles.
