Set beside the banks of the Neath River and shaded by centuries-old yew trees, St Illtyd’s presents an appealing and peaceful sight to the traveller.
With its medieval defensible tower, much used in days gone by, its 16th-century Tudor windows, 18th-century royal coat of arms and monuments to prominent families, the church is steeped in history.
It also houses an unusual D-shaped Romanesque font
which has an unusual and tragic tale to tell.
Be sure to ask when you visit.
