The church has an unusual dedication to St Sannan, an Irish saint who died in AD544.

This is a well-preserved large though restored medieval church with an unusual plan.

Restored by WG Habershon in 1859 and G Halliday 1905 with vestry and fittings by EP Warren in 1910.
